Thomas Rothenberger has over 20 years of reinsurance and banking experience. More recently he was a member of Ariel Re’s executive board and head of credit & surety, overseeing a team of 14 professionals. He successfully established Ariel Re’s Swiss branch and built up a highly profitable C&S book of more than USD 100m premium in 20+ countries. Prior to joining Ariel Re, Thomas held numerous positions at Swiss Re in Zurich, New York and London, last as global head of underwriting for all credit reinsurance and insurance businesses including credit & surety, political risk, infrastructure and trade finance.

Thomas has a strong track record in building and promoting profitable new business both in reinsurance and capital markets. He successfully led Crystal Credit Ltd., the first indemnity based credit reinsurance securitisation in 2006.

Thomas holds an MBA from the University of St. Gallen and is fluent in German, English and Spanish.
